About

Capital Asset Management is a collaborative function that supports the university community in identifying, maintaining, and tracking movable capital assets from acquisition to disposal. Oversight is shared between the Office of Financial Reporting (OFR) and the Office of Audit, Risk and Compliance's Capital Asset Management (CAM Audit) teams to ensure the accuracy and compliance of MSU's asset records.


 

OFR is responsible for:

  • Creating asset records
  • Approving asset record retirements
  • Allocating KFS transactions to asset records
  • Assisting with asset payment record corrections
  • Supporting Role 6 CAM Processors with training resources

CAM Audit is responsible for:

  • Providing asset tags and barcode scanners for identification
  • Assigning annual physical inventory strategies
  • Conducting physical inventory processes
  • Tracking and recording compliance for MSU units
  • Supporting Role 6 CAM Processors with training resources
